Commercial Brail Set

A set of replacement brails for the Morse Diving Commercial Helmets. Brail sets will be stamped with metal stamps received in the Morse asset purchase. On vintage AJMS and Morse Diving helmets the front brails will have FRONT stamped on each brail. The rear brails will have MORSE BOSTON stamped on the left brail, and MADE IN USA stamped on the right brail. Brails for helmets made after the 2015 purchase of the Morse assets will have MORSE MILWAUKEE in lieu of MORSE BOSTON stamped on the back brail.

All parts sold by DESCO as replacements for vintage helmets will have a letter "R" stamped into them to denote they are replacement parts, not original. Location of the R stamp will be determined by the particular part. The helmet serial number can be stamped on the brails by request. The number font is not an exact match to the original stamps Morse used. Several sets of stamps were used over the years and the font changed over time.

The brail set pictured is from AJMS 3 Light Commercial Helmet 6902 made in November 2016. It is on display on our Commercial Diver jake rig. There are blemishes and marks on the brails which do not accurately represent new brails. The brails from 6902 were the only ones available at the time to photograph.

The Morse brail castings do not have the stud holes cast into them. The front and back brails are cast in halves of the set and the individual brails castings have to be cut from the half. The holes are laid out by hand so some varience may occur and affect the fitment. Old breastplates may have replaced studs which are not at the original angle or studs that have been knocked out of place. The breastplate may be crushed in or splayed which will affect fitment. DESCO cannot guarantee a good fit on brails we send out without fitting them to the breastplate. For a accurate fit the breastplate should be sent to DESCO for fitting the brails.
