The Exhaust Outlet Guard Assembly was developed for Air Hats used in Nuclear diving. Divers are required to have dosimeters placed in various locations on their bodies. One location is in the helmet. With limited space in the helmet the dosimeters are placed wherever they may fit. There have been instances where the dosimeter has come loose during a dive and fell across the exhaust outlet, restricting the air flow. The outlet guard was designed to prevent this issue from occuring. Its use is recommended wherever any additional piece of equipment is placed inside the helmet without proper fixed mounting.
